GAME SUMMARY
The
old guys’ defense consistently stymied the young bucks’
offensive scheme (assuming they had one, and if they did, truly
it was “offensive”). Again the masterful D. Hickey directed
the Old Guys throughout the course of the game, connecting on his
first TD pass to Filippoli. The Young Bucks Jerry Guidotti threw
an int. to Mahone. The Old failed to capitalize but Whit intercepted
on the next series. The Old Guys answered right back, promptly throwing
their own interception as Beste stepped in front of a Hickey pass.
Hickey bounced back, connecting to Whitwell for a TD to make the
score 2-0, Old Guys. The zone D continued to puzzle the young and
frazzled bucks. The Old Guys next touchdown came on a throw from
Filippoli to Hickey to make it 3-0 and then later the duo struck
again as Hickey threw a TD pass to Filippoli to make the score 4-0.
The Young bucks added a meaningless TD at the end as Beste threw
a duck to C. Robinson on the last play of the game to make the final
score 4-1. The Old Guys pittied the Young Bucks and decided not
to preserve the shutout.
Note: The official statistician kept the turnovers but they are
too numerous to elaborate on in such a small space.
